You therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. — 2 Tim 2:1 BSB
How to enjoy this day: it won’t happen by trying to be happy, yet we are responsible for the conditions that lead to true joy.
-
Be right with God, for “gladness is sown for the upright in heart.” His joy remains in us, making our joy complete.
-
Forget yourself and live for others, for “it is more blessed to give than to receive.”
-
When you cannot rejoice in feelings, circumstances, or states, rejoice in the Lord and count it all joy when you face various trials.
Lastly, obey the Lord and be faithful to what He has entrusted to you. Again and again, His Spirit will whisper, “Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord.”
Not enjoyment and not sorrow
Is our destined end or way,
But to act that each tomorrow
Finds us farther than today.
Let us then be up and doing
With a heart for any fate,
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.
