The Life-Giving Stream

Wherever the river flows, there will be swarms of living creatures and a great number of fish, because it flows there and makes the waters fresh; so wherever the river flows, everything will flourish. — Ezek 47:9 BSB

In the prophet's vision, living waters flowed into the Dead Sea, bringing life even to that stagnant body of water. Wherever grace flows, spiritual life immediately and eternally follows. Grace moves according to God's will, much like a river winding on its chosen course. Wherever it goes, it doesn’t wait for life to appear; instead, it creates life by its very presence. Oh, that these waters would flow through our streets and flood our struggling neighborhoods! Oh, that they would flow through my home and rise until every room is filled with their life-giving current! Lord, let Your living water flow into my family and my friends, and don’t pass me by. I hope I’ve already drunk from it, but I long to bathe in it and even swim in it. O my Savior, I need life in greater abundance. Come to me, I pray, until every part of me is fully alive and active in You. Living God, fill me with Your life.

I am like a dry stick; come and bring me to life so that, like Aaron’s rod, I may bud, blossom, and bear fruit to Your glory. Quicken me, for the sake of my Lord Jesus. Amen.
