What of My House?

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.” — Acts 16:31 BSB

This gospel, which is for a man with a sword at his throat, is the gospel for me. It would be enough for me if I were dying, and it’s all I need while I’m living. I turn away from myself, my sin, and any thought of personal merit, and I trust in the Lord Jesus as the Savior whom God has given. I believe in Him, I rest on Him, and I accept Him as my all in all. Lord, I am saved, and I shall be saved for all eternity because I believe in Jesus. Blessed be Your name for this! May I prove by my daily life that I am saved from selfishness, worldliness, and every form of evil.

But those final words about my “house”: Lord, I don’t want to settle for half of a promise when You offer a full one. I ask You to save my whole family. Save those nearest and dearest to me. Convert my children and grandchildren, if I have any. Be gracious to my servants and to everyone who lives or works under my roof. You have made this promise to me personally if I believe in the Lord Jesus, and I ask You to fulfill it just as You said.

Each day in my prayers, I will name all my brothers and sisters, parents, children, friends, and relatives. I won’t give You rest until You fulfill Your word: “and your house.”
