I will strengthen them in the LORD, and in His name they will walk,” declares the LORD. — Zech 10:12 BSB

Here is a comforting promise for those saints who are spiritually sick. They may feel weak and wonder if they will ever recover from their state of doubt and fear, but the Great Physician can heal both the sickness and the resulting weakness. He will strengthen the feeble. And the best part is that this strength will come “in the Lord.” Strength in God is far better than strength in ourselves. In the Lord, it leads to fellowship; in ourselves, it would only lead to pride. Strength in ourselves is limited, but in God, it is boundless.

When God gives strength, the believer uses it. He walks in the name of the Lord. What a joy it is to walk in freedom after being bedridden with illness, and how delightful it is to be strong in the Lord after a season of spiritual weakness! The Lord gives us not only the strength to walk but also the liberty to walk freely and enjoy the journey. He makes us like royalty in His kingdom, not slaves who toil without rest or joy, but free men and women who walk at ease in the land of Immanuel.

Come, my heart, no longer be sick or sorrowful. Jesus calls you to be strong and walk with Him in holy contemplation. Obey His word of love.
