Walk Without Stumbling
He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber. — Ps 121:3 BSB
If the Lord does not allow something, neither men nor devils can accomplish it. How they would rejoice if they could cause us to stumble, drive us from our faith, and erase us from memory! They would delight in doing this, if not for one thing: the Lord will not permit it. And if He does not allow it, we will not suffer it.
Life’s path is like traveling through mountain ranges, where danger is always present. Along the steep trails, the risk of slipping is great. In high places, our heads may feel dizzy, and our feet may stumble. Some paths are smooth like glass, while others are rough with loose stones, making falls seem inevitable. Only those who are upheld by the faithful love of God can remain standing through it all. Without His sustaining hand, no believer would remain upright for long. What with all the pitfalls, weak knees, and subtle enemies, we stand because the Lord will not allow our feet to be moved.
Amid a thousand snares, I stand
Upheld and guarded by Thy hand;
That hand unseen shall hold me still,
And lead me to Thy holy hill.
