Help Wanted
‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered. So he told them, ‘You also go into my vineyard.’ — Matt 20:7 BSB
Yes, even older people can still find work in Christ’s vineyard. It may be the last hour of the day, but He will still let us work. What grace this is! Surely every older person should jump at this opportunity! As people age, society tends to overlook them. They go from place to place, only to be rejected because of their gray hair. But Jesus welcomes the elderly into His service and promises them good wages. What mercy! Lord, help the elderly to join Your service without any hesitation.
But will the Lord truly reward those who come to Him late in life? Don’t doubt it. He promises to give what is right to anyone willing to work in His field. He will give them grace now and glory later. He will provide comfort today and eternal rest tomorrow. He will give strength to match the day and a vision of glory when death comes. The Lord Jesus will give these gifts just as freely to the elderly convert as He does to someone who came to Him in their youth.
Let me share this good news with an older man or woman who hasn’t yet believed, and pray that the Lord blesses them for Jesus’ sake. Where can I find such people? I’ll keep my eyes open and share this message of hope.
