No Need to Stint
He who leads the upright along the path of evil will fall into his own pit, but the blameless will inherit what is good. — Prov 28:10 BSB
The book of Proverbs is full of promises, and these promises should be like proverbs to God’s people. This one is particularly remarkable. We often think of our blessings as something we’ll receive in the future, but here we’re told we have them now. No amount of malice or cunning from our enemies can destroy us; they will fall into the very traps they set for us. Our inheritance is secured, and we will not miss it.
What do we have right now? We have peace of mind through the precious blood of Jesus. We have God’s unchanging love set upon us. We have the ability to call on God in prayer whenever we need. We have God’s providence watching over us, His angels ministering to us, and—above all—His Spirit living in us. In fact, all things are ours. “Whether present or future, all are yours.” Jesus is ours, and even the Trinity itself is ours. Hallelujah! Let’s stop complaining and feeling deprived, and instead live in joy and contentment, trusting in our God. Holy Spirit, help us!
