God's High Places
Because he loves Me, I will deliver him; because he knows My name, I will protect him. — Ps 91:14 BSB
Does the Lord say this to me? Yes, if I know His name. Blessed be the Lord, I’m no stranger to Him. I’ve tested Him, experienced His goodness, and come to know Him, which is why I trust Him. I know Him as a God who hates sin, for by the Spirit’s conviction I’ve learned He will never ignore evil. But I also know Him as the God who forgives sin through Christ Jesus, for He has forgiven me of all my wrongdoings. His name is Faithful, and I know that, too, because He has never abandoned me, even when my troubles multiplied.
This knowledge of God is a gift of grace, and the Lord uses it to give me even more grace, setting me in a high place. This is grace upon grace. If God raises us to a high place, it may seem risky, but if He’s the one placing us there, we are safe. He may elevate us to great usefulness, deeper spiritual experiences, successful service, or leadership among others. Even if He doesn’t raise us in status, He may lift us through close fellowship, clear understanding, holy victory, or a sense of eternal glory. When God sets us on high, not even Satan can bring us down. Oh, that this would be true for us throughout this day!
