Day Is at Hand
And I will give him the morning star. — Rev 2:28 BSB
Until the day breaks and the shadows disappear, what a blessing it is to see Jesus as the "morning star"! I remember reading in the newspapers a claim that the star of Bethlehem had reappeared. Upon investigation, we discovered it was only "the morning star," but in a way, the mistake wasn’t entirely wrong.
It’s best to see Jesus as the bright sun, but if we cannot, then the next best thing is to see Him as the morning star, which signals the coming of daylight. If I am not yet everything I hope to be, seeing Jesus gives me the assurance that one day I will be like Him. A glimpse of Jesus by faith is a promise that I will one day see Him in His full glory and be transformed into His image. If I don’t have all the light and joy I desire right now, I know it’s coming—because just as surely as the morning star appears, the sun will rise. The morning star is never far from the sun.
Come, my soul, has the Lord given you the morning star? Do you hold fast to the truth, grace, hope, and love that He has given you? If so, you already have the dawn of coming glory. The One who helps you overcome evil and persevere in righteousness has already given you the morning star.
