Lead the Way

The LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you will only move upward and never downward, if you hear and carefully follow the commandments of the LORD your God, which I am giving you today. — Deut 28:13 BSB

If we obey the Lord, He will cause our adversaries to see that His blessing rests upon us. Although this is a promise from the law, it still applies to the people of God, for Jesus has removed the curse but has established the blessing.

God’s people are meant to lead by holy influence, not to be dragged along by the world. We must not yield to the spirit of the age but compel the age to acknowledge Christ. If the Lord is with us, we should not merely seek tolerance for our faith; instead, we should aim to make it the guiding force of society. Hasn’t the Lord Jesus made His people priests? Surely we are meant to teach, not to learn from the philosophies of unbelievers. Are we not made kings in Christ to reign on earth? How then can we be servants of human customs and opinions?

Dear friend, have you taken up your true position for Jesus? Too many remain silent out of shyness or fear. Should we allow the name of the Lord Jesus to be kept in the background? Should our faith be dragged along as a tail, or should it lead the way and be the ruling force in our lives and in society?
