Established and Kept

But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. — 2 Thess 3:3 BSB

Men are often as lacking in reason as they are in faith. Among us still are “unreasonable and wicked men.” There’s no use arguing with them or trying to make peace with them; they are false at heart and deceitful in speech. But what of this? Should we worry ourselves over them? No, let us turn to the Lord, for He is faithful. No promise from His Word will ever be broken. He is neither unreasonable in His demands nor unfaithful to our needs. We have a faithful God—let this be our joy.

He will establish us so that wicked men will not cause our downfall, and He will keep us safe from all the evils that now threaten us. What a blessing that we don’t need to contend with men but can find shelter in the Lord Jesus, who is in the deepest sympathy with us. There is one true heart, one faithful mind, one unchanging love—in these, let us rest. The Lord will fulfill His gracious purposes for us, His servants, and we need not allow a shadow of fear to fall upon our spirits. Nothing that men or devils can do will hinder us from receiving divine protection and provision. Today, let us pray that the Lord will establish and keep us.
