A Sure Guide

I will lead the blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light before them and rough places into level ground. These things I will do for them, and I will not forsake them. — Isa 42:16 BSB

Imagine the infinitely glorious Jehovah acting as a guide to the blind! What boundless condescension this reveals! A blind person cannot find their way if they do not know it. Even if they know the road, it’s difficult to walk it; but a road they have never known is impossible for them to traverse without guidance. By nature, we are blind to the way of salvation, yet the Lord leads us into it and brings us to Himself, opening our eyes along the way. As for the future, we are all blind and cannot see even an hour ahead; but the Lord Jesus will lead us to the very end of our journey. Blessed be His name!

We cannot predict how deliverance will come to us, but the Lord knows, and He will lead us until we have escaped every danger. Happy are those who place their hand in the hand of the great Guide, leaving their way and their lives entirely with Him. He will bring them all the way home, and when He opens their eyes to see the path He led them on, what a song of gratitude they will sing to their great Benefactor! Lord, lead Your poor blind child today, for I do not know the way!
