He Always Listens

The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer. — Ps 6:9 BSB

The experience written here is my own. I can say with confidence that God is true. Many, many times, He has answered my prayers in wonderful ways. Yes, and even now, He is hearing my current prayer and is not turning His ear away from me. Praise His holy name!

So, what then? Surely, the promise found in the psalmist’s confident faith is also mine. Let me hold on to it with faith: “The Lord will receive my prayer.” He will accept it, consider it, and answer it in the way and timing that His loving wisdom knows is best. I bring my humble prayer before the great King, and He grants me an audience, graciously listening to my request. My enemies may not listen to me, but my Lord will. They may mock my tearful prayers, but my Lord does not. He receives my prayers with open ears and a loving heart.

What an amazing reception this is for a sinner like me! We receive Jesus, and then the Lord receives us and our prayers for His sake. Blessed be the name of the One who guarantees our prayers, so they freely pass through the golden gates. Lord, teach me to pray, for You hear my prayers.
