Absolutely No Remembrance

Then He adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” — Heb 10:17 BSB

According to this gracious covenant, the Lord treats His people as though they had never sinned. He essentially forgets all their wrongdoings. No matter the type or quantity of sin, God acts as if they never happened—as though they are completely erased from His memory. What a miracle of grace! God accomplishes something here that, in human terms, seems impossible.

Because Jesus’ sacrifice has confirmed the covenant, God overlooks our sins. We can rejoice in Him without fear of anger or punishment for our past iniquities. He adopts us as His children, accepts us as righteous, and delights in us as though we were perfectly holy. He even entrusts us with great responsibilities—guardians of His honor, trustees of His treasures, and stewards of the gospel. He counts us worthy of ministry, which is a profound sign that He no longer remembers our sins. Even when we forgive others, we are often slow to trust again. But God, in His grace, not only forgives but also treats us as if we had never erred. What an incredible promise! Believe it, and rejoice.
