Word to Him Who Halts

Behold, at that time, I will deal with all who afflict you. I will save the lame and gather the scattered; and I will appoint praise and fame for the disgraced throughout the earth. — Zeph 3:19 BSB

There are many who struggle and limp along the path of faith. You may encounter “her that halteth” more often than you think. These individuals are on the right road, eager to run diligently, but they are hindered by their weakness, making slow progress. The heavenly road is full of cripples, people who feel discouraged, thinking sin will overtake them or that Satan will bring them down. They feel their weakness acutely, believing they are ill-suited to be soldiers of the Lord or swift messengers of His gospel. But the Lord promises, “I will save her that halteth.” He will glorify Himself by saving those who seem the most unlikely. People will ask, “How did this lame person finish the race and win the crown?” And all the glory will go to God’s grace.

Lord, though I stumble in faith, prayer, praise, service, and patience, I ask that You save me. Only You can rescue someone as weak as I am. Don’t let me be lost because I lag behind; gather me up by Your grace, as You have promised. I move forward in faith, trusting in Your promise, even though I limp along the way.
