Obedience Brings Blessing
Be careful to obey all these things I command you, so that it may always go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the LORD your God. — Deut 12:28 BSB
Though salvation is not achieved by obeying the law, the blessings promised to those who obey are not denied to the faithful servants of God. The curses were taken away by our Lord when He became a curse for us, but no clause of blessing has been revoked.
We are to pay attention to the revealed will of the Lord, listening not to just parts of it, but to “all these words.” There should be no picking and choosing, but a complete respect for all that God has commanded. This is the path to blessedness for both the Father and His children. The Lord’s blessing is upon His chosen people to the third and fourth generation. If they walk uprightly before Him, He will make all people know that they are a seed blessed by the Lord. No blessing can come to us or our families through dishonesty or deceit. The ways of worldly conformity and unholiness cannot bring good to us or our loved ones. It will go well with us when we walk rightly before God. If integrity does not make us prosper, dishonesty certainly won’t. What pleases God will ultimately bring joy to us.
