Tears Shall Cease

‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,’ and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away. — Rev 21:4 BSB

Yes, we shall reach this point if we are believers. Sorrow will cease, and tears will be wiped away. This world is full of weeping, but it will pass away. There will be a new heaven and a new earth, as the first verse of this chapter says; and because of this, there will be nothing left to weep over regarding the Fall and its resulting miseries. Look at the second verse and notice how it speaks of the bride and her marriage. The wedding of the Lamb is a time for boundless joy, and tears would be out of place. The third verse says that God Himself will dwell among men; and surely at His right hand are pleasures forevermore, where tears can no longer flow.

What will our state be when there is no more sorrow, no more crying, and no more pain? This will be more glorious than we can imagine. O eyes red with weeping, stop your burning flow, for soon you will know no more tears! No one can wipe away tears like the God of love, and He is coming to do just that. “Weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning.” Come, Lord, and do not delay; for now, both men and women must weep!
