Conquest to Victory

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. — Rom 16:20 BSB

This promise aligns perfectly with the one from yesterday. We are clearly meant to follow in the footsteps of our covenant Head, not only in being bruised in the heel but also in His victory over the evil one. Even under our feet, the old dragon is to be crushed. The believers in Rome were troubled by conflicts within the church, but their God was "the God of peace" who granted them peace of mind. The enemy may have caused some to stumble and deceived the hearts of the innocent, but ultimately, he was destined to be defeated and crushed by those he had tried to harm.

This victory wouldn’t come through our own wisdom or strength, but through God Himself, who would crush Satan. Although the bruising would happen under our feet, it would be God alone who delivers the blow.

Let’s courageously step on the tempter! Not just the lesser spirits, but even the prince of darkness himself must fall before us. With unwavering trust in God, let’s anticipate a swift victory. “Soon.” What a hopeful word! Soon we will set our foot on the old serpent! What joy it will be to crush evil! What a humiliation for Satan to have his head crushed by human feet! Through faith in Jesus, let’s trample the tempter underfoot.
