Never Cast Out

Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never drive away. — John 6:37 BSB

Has there ever been a time when our Lord turned away someone who came to Him? If there were, we’d like to know about it. But there hasn’t been, and there never will be. Among the lost souls in hell, not one can say, “I went to Jesus, and He refused me.” It’s impossible that you or I would be the first to whom Jesus breaks His word. Let’s not entertain such dark suspicions.

Suppose we go to Jesus right now with the troubles of today. We can be absolutely sure—He will not refuse to listen or turn us away. Whether we’ve gone to Him many times or never before, let’s go together, and we’ll see that He won’t close the door of His grace on any of us.

“This man receives sinners,” but He never turns them away. We come to Him in weakness and sin, with trembling faith, little knowledge, and faint hope; but He doesn’t cast us out. We come in prayer, even if that prayer is broken; with confession, even if that confession is flawed; with praise, even if that praise falls short of His worth; yet He still receives us. We come sick, polluted, worn out, and worthless, but He never casts us out. Let’s go to Him again today, to the One who never turns us away.
