Joyful Security

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness. — Isa 41:10 BSB

The fear of falling is a healthy fear. Being overly bold is not a sign of wisdom. There are times when we feel that we will surely fall unless we have special support. Here, we find that support. God’s right hand is a powerful thing to lean on. It’s not just any hand, though it keeps heaven and earth in their places; it’s His right hand—His power combined with skill, His power where it is most effective. But that’s not all; it’s written, “I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.” The hand He uses to maintain His holiness and carry out His royal decrees—that’s the hand He stretches out to hold up those who trust in Him. Our danger may be great, but our security is even greater. The person whom God upholds cannot be thrown down by devils.

Our feet may be weak, but God’s right hand is almighty. The road may be rough, but Omnipotence is our support. We can move forward boldly. We will not fall. Let’s lean continually on the One who upholds everything. God will not withdraw His strength because His righteousness is at stake. He will be faithful to His promise, faithful to His Son, and therefore faithful to us. How happy we should be! Aren’t we?
