Blessing on Littleness

He will bless those who fear the LORD—small and great alike. — Ps 115:13 BSB

This is a comforting word for those who are of humble status and modest means. Our God has a tender concern for those with small resources, small talents, small influence, and small standing. God cares for the small things in creation, even noticing when sparrows land on the ground. Nothing is insignificant to God, for He often uses the least likely agents to accomplish His purposes. Let those who feel small in the world seek a blessing from God upon their humble circumstances, and they will find their limited sphere to be a place of happiness.

Among those who fear the Lord, there are both small and great. Some are spiritual infants, while others are giants in faith. But all are blessed. Little faith is still blessed faith. Trembling hope is still blessed hope. Every grace of the Holy Spirit, even if it is only in its early stages, carries a blessing. Moreover, the Lord Jesus purchased both the small and the great with the same precious blood, and He has committed to caring for the lambs as well as the full-grown sheep. No mother overlooks her child because it is small; in fact, the smaller the child, the more tenderly she cares for it. If the Lord has any preference, it is not “great and small,” but rather “small and great.”
