Divine, Ever-Living, Unchanging

but the word of the Lord stands forever.” And this is the word that was proclaimed to you. — 1 Pet 1:25 BSB

All human teaching and even all human life will fade like the grass in the field. But here we are assured that the Word of the Lord is completely different—it will endure forever.

We have a divine gospel, for what word could last forever but the one spoken by the eternal God?

We have an ever-living gospel, just as full of life and power as it was when it first came from God’s lips. It’s just as powerful to convict and convert, to renew and comfort, to sustain and sanctify, as it was in its earliest days of wonder-working.

We have an unchanging gospel. It’s not like grass that is green today and dry hay tomorrow; it’s the eternal truth of the unchanging God. Human opinions change, but the truth spoken by God will never change—just as He never changes.

Here, then, is a gospel we can rejoice in, a word from the Lord that we can lean on with all our weight. “Forever” includes life, death, judgment, and eternity. Praise God in Christ Jesus for eternal comfort! Feed on the Word today and every day of your life.
