Night of Weeping; Joyous Day
For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning. — Ps 30:5 BSB
A moment of experiencing our Father’s anger can feel like it lasts forever, but in reality, it’s brief. If we grieve His Spirit, we can’t expect His smile. Yet He is a God who forgives easily, and He quickly forgets our faults. When we’re at our lowest, His favor breathes new life into us.
This verse also speaks to the quick change from weeping to joy. God’s discipline is brief and full of mercy. He doesn’t delight in using the rod on His children; just a few blows, and it’s done. The life and joy that follow His anger and our weeping far outweigh the temporary sorrow.
So, heart of mine, start praising! Don’t weep through the night but wipe your eyes in anticipation of the morning. These tears are like the dew, preparing us for the sunshine of tomorrow. Tears clear our eyes to see God’s grace more clearly, making His favor all the more precious. A night of sorrow adds depth to the joy that follows. All is well.
