Who Has the Majority?
“Do not be afraid,” Elisha answered, “for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” — 2 Kgs 6:16 BSB
Horses, chariots, and a vast army surrounded the prophet in Dothan, causing his young servant to panic. How could they escape such overwhelming forces? But the prophet had eyes of faith that his servant lacked; he saw a greater host with far superior weapons guarding them from harm. Fiery horses and chariots, far mightier than any earthly army, protected them.
And so it is today. The enemies of truth may be numerous, powerful, intelligent, and cunning, and it may seem that truth is at a disadvantage. But the believer need not fear. Unseen forces, divine and unstoppable, stand guard over righteousness. God has armies in waiting, ready to act when needed. The forces for good far outweigh the forces for evil. Let us, therefore, be courageous and walk confidently, knowing that we hold a joyous secret: “They that be with us are more than they that be with them.” Faith, with God on her side, is always in the majority.
