Spurgeon's Prayer: Burden Bearers
Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
— Galatians 6:2 (BSB)
We are bound to carry one another’s burdens, and to bear one another’s trials and temptations, remembering how the Lord has borne us up.
— Charles Spurgeon
Father, we come before You, recognizing the burdens that many of us carry. Some of us are weighed down with heavy loads, and we ask that You either lighten our burdens or give us the strength to carry them. Lord, You have promised that Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light, so we come to You, seeking rest for our souls.
We pray for those who carry the burdens of others—those who cry out to You day and night about the sins of our time and the state of Your Church. Give them strength, O Lord, as they intercede for the world around them. Help them to bear these burdens without fear, trusting that You are in control of all things and that You will take care of Your people.
Lord, help us all to carry one another’s burdens, as You have commanded us to do. May we be willing to support one another in times of trouble, offering encouragement and love to those who are struggling. Let us not grow weary in doing good, but may we fulfill the law of Christ by bearing each other’s burdens.
We also pray for those who are weighed down by fear, doubt, or grief. Forgive us for our lack of trust when we cannot see the way forward, and increase our faith. Remind us that You are always with us, carrying our burdens and walking with us through every trial. In Your mercy, give us peace in the midst of our struggles, knowing that You are sovereign over all things. Amen.
