Spurgeon's Prayer: Victory through Christ
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
— 1 Corinthians 15:57 (BSB)
It is not great faith, but true faith, that saves; and the salvation lies not in the faith, but in the Christ in whom faith trusts.
— Charles Spurgeon
O Lord, as we reflect on this day, we are reminded of the victory that we have in Christ. We thank You, Father, for the assurance that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. We do not fight in our own strength, but in the power of Christ, who has already won the battle. Tonight, we rest in the knowledge that victory is ours because of Your grace and the sacrifice of Your Son.
Lord, we confess that we are weak and easily overcome by sin when left to ourselves. But we trust in Your promise that through Christ, we are victorious. You have crushed the power of sin and death, and we are no longer slaves to fear. Help us remember this truth when we are tempted to doubt or when the enemy attacks. Give us the confidence to stand firm in the victory that Christ has already secured for us.
Holy Spirit, fill us with Your power. Help us to walk in holiness, resisting the pull of the world and the desires of the flesh. We know that we cannot do this in our own strength, but with You, all things are possible. Sanctify us and empower us to live in a way that glorifies You. May our lives be a testimony of the victory we have in Christ, shining as lights in this world.
Father, as we close this day, we thank You for the victory we have in Jesus. Help us to rest in that victory tonight, confident that You are working in us to make us more like Christ. We praise You for the triumph that is ours in Him, and we look forward to the day when we will stand before You, fully sanctified and glorified in His presence.
