Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid. — John 14:27 BSB

Two artists set out to paint a picture of peace. One painted a serene lake, nestled deep among the hills, protected from any storm. The other painted a wild sea, storm-tossed and filled with wreckage, but rising out of the sea was a great rock. In a cleft of the rock, amid some flowers and grass, a dove sat peacefully on her nest. The latter is the true picture of Christian peace.

Anyone can be confident when everything is calm and safe. Anyone can be happy when there are no troubles. But what we need is a faith that gives us peace during the fiercest storms. How do we find this peace? Only by hiding in Christ.
