but the word of the Lord stands forever.” And this is the word that was proclaimed to you. — 1 Pet 1:25 BSB

People often make promises that others depend on—staking their happiness and future on the word given—only to discover later that the promises were forgotten or broken. But even the smallest promise from God is sure and eternal. When someone takes hold of one of God’s promises and builds their hope on it, it is more certain than the stars in the sky. God will never forget or fail to fulfill His Word.

There’s a story of an English nobleman who, while walking in the countryside, found a little girl in distress. She had broken her water pitcher, and her family was poor and couldn’t afford to replace it. The nobleman wanted to help, but he didn’t have any money with him. So, he promised the child that if she met him the next day at the same time, he would give her the money for a new pitcher.

The next day, the nobleman was invited to dine with the queen at the very time of his appointment with the girl. But he declined the royal invitation, choosing to keep his promise to the child. He would not fail her, no matter the cost.

If a human being can be so faithful to their word, how much more will God be true to His promises? No word He has spoken will ever be broken.
