So Jacob was left all alone, and there a man wrestled with him until daybreak. — Gen 32:24 BSB

We all have our “Jabbok moments.” We face struggles in the dark. We often walk away from these battles with wounds, but also with blessings.

The touch on Jacob’s thigh was the touch that broke his old strength. You may say that Jacob was victorious, and he was—but not while he was wrestling. His victory came after his thigh was dislocated and he could wrestle no more. At that point, he wrapped his arms around his opponent’s neck and clung to him, saying, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” His victory didn’t come through his old cunning but by being humbled and learning to trust and cling to God.
