I would plead my case before Him and fill my mouth with arguments. — Job 23:4 BSB

Job had confidence that God was his friend and that if he could stand before Him and explain his life, everything would be well. Every Christian can have the same assurance. This doesn’t mean that we are without sin or that we can defend ourselves before God as if we’ve done nothing wrong. We are all sinners, and we can only come before God with repentance and confession. But when we come in this way, casting ourselves on His love and mercy, we can present our case to Him without fear—not by claiming innocence, but by trusting in the grace of Christ. We know that God is compassionate toward our weaknesses. Even though He knows everything about us, He loves us with infinite grace! “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.”

An even sweeter truth is that we have an Advocate who pleads our case before God, one who will always find acceptance for us. “If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1). We can always go to God in Jesus' name, knowing that He is interceding for us. Our cause is safe in the hands of the One who gave His life for us.
