Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, — Gen 9:14 BSB
So it is in spiritual life too—whenever a cloud appears in the sky, there is also a rainbow. The rainbow of God’s promise, His love and grace, is there. We often say that every cloud has a silver lining, and it’s true. Every dark circumstance has a bright, shining side. As God sees it, there is a blessing in it. We may not always be able to see the rainbow on the cloud; sometimes all we see is the gloom. But faith assures us that there is good in every trial, every sorrow, and every loss, even when our eyes can't see it. “We know that all things work together for good—for those who love God.”
Someday we will know that many of our greatest blessings have come from our sorrows. In the book of Revelation, we are told that there is a rainbow around the throne of God in heaven, reminding us that God’s covenant isn't only for this life, but also for the life to come. Perhaps our richest blessings in heaven will be the result of the sorrows we endured on earth!
