So teach us to number our days, that we may present a heart of wisdom. — Ps 90:12 BSB

There are different ways to number our days. One way is simply to count them off as they pass, knowing we have one less day to live. But that’s not truly numbering our days. Another way is to add them up as they accumulate, knowing we are growing older. But that, too, is not enough. The true numbering of our days involves filling them with meaning, growing in character, and living in a way that honors God.

As we look back over the past year, what have we given to the days to keep? What lessons have we learned? It’s no good worrying about the failures of the year, but we should learn from our past mistakes. Wisdom isn’t found in never making mistakes—it’s found in not repeating them.
