Yes, I will rejoice in doing them good, and I will faithfully plant them in this land with all My heart and with all My soul. — Jer 32:41 BSB
God rejoices in saving your soul just as much—no, infinitely more—than you rejoice in being saved. His joy is boundless, while yours is finite. His joy is the joy of God, while yours is the joy of man. Do you believe that God delights in saving? Why else would he have given his beloved Son? If the angels rejoice over a sinner who repents, how much more does God himself rejoice in saving a sinner? This truth lifts us into the very realms of heaven and reveals the wondrous nature of God in his triune nature—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—rejoicing together in the salvation of his people.
When Christ offered himself as a sacrifice for sin, he put away the sins of his people through his blood and death, conquering death and hell. He washed us clean from all guilt and shame, and God rejoiced with infinite joy at the completion of his Son’s work. This was the fulfillment of his eternal plans of wisdom and grace, the revelation of his glory to men and angels, the triumph of good over evil, holiness over sin, mercy over judgment, love over enmity, wisdom over deception, and above all, the triumph of Christ’s weakness over Satan’s power. Heaven is being filled with countless saints who will sing eternal praises to God and the Lamb, and God rejoices with holy joy over each one he brings to this glorious salvation.
