and the surpassing greatness of His power to us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, — Eph 1:19-20 BSB
It’s no great surprise that the Son of God should be exalted to the throne of power. After all, it's just a step from the Father’s heart to His right hand. But that someone in our human nature should be raised to such a position of honor and power—this is the mystery. That the Mediator between God and man is the man Christ Jesus, that the hands once nailed to the cross now hold the scepter, that the feet which once walked the dusty roads of Galilee and were washed with a sinful woman’s tears—those very feet now have all things in heaven and earth placed under them.
Yet, what a comfort this is for our faith! God’s children need a living Savior, one who can hear and answer their prayers, deliver them from their struggles, speak peace to their hearts when they are overwhelmed, and sympathize with them in their trials. This living Savior, who once walked in our weakness, now reigns with all power to sustain us through life’s difficulties, to befriend us in our adversity, and to guide us through the valley of death into a blessed eternity.
