If only I knew where to find Him, so that I could go to His seat. I would plead my case before Him and fill my mouth with arguments. — Job 23:3-4 BSB
Wasn’t Job in the same place we often find ourselves? If Job hadn’t known what it was like to be confused, distressed, and nearly overwhelmed by the attacks of the enemy, he wouldn’t have cried out, “Oh, that I knew where I might find Him! That I might come even to His dwelling!” Have you ever felt that? Are you feeling it now? Look into your heart, those of you who fear God. Have you ever felt such a desire to find Him, to know His presence, to taste His comfort?
In times of darkness and distress, you might have cried out, not necessarily in words, but from the depths of your soul, “Oh, that I knew where I might find Him! Lord, I long for You; my soul yearns for Your presence. I want to embrace You in faith; I need the assurance of Your gracious words.” If this has been the cry of your heart, then it’s evidence that you have the fear of God within you and the Spirit’s teaching in your soul. You are walking the same path as Job. If you know this longing, then you share in Job’s affliction—and you will also share in Job’s deliverance, joy, and salvation. The God of Job is your God, and one day, like Job, you will be bathing your ransomed soul in the glory of the Lamb.
