God's Appointment

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” — Jer 1:5 BSB

God has a plan for each of His children. From the moment we are reborn at the foot of the Cross, to the moment we lay down our armor at the river’s edge, there is a path He has prepared for us to walk. And He also prepares us for this path. We are His workmanship, created for the good works He has already planned for us. There is no emergency on the path where He has not already made provision. From the moment of Jeremiah’s creation, God had a plan for his life, and He prepared him for that work.

Ask yourself, what is the work for which you were born? For what purpose were you conceived in the creative thought of God? There is no doubt that there is a divine purpose for your existence. Seek to discover it and believe that God has equipped you with everything necessary to fulfill that purpose. God has formed you and filled your mind with all the resources needed for your life’s work. It is your responsibility to develop and refine the talents He has entrusted to you.

Do not be jealous or envious of others; do not covet someone else’s five talents. Be faithful to God’s design for you, fulfilling the purpose for which you were created, redeemed, and called to serve. It is enough to be what God made you to be and to always do your best.

Even when God’s purpose for you isn’t immediately clear—when life seems to be lived in fragments, like scattered tiles waiting to form a mosaic—trust that God has a plan. Stay true to your highest ideals, and in the end, you will see the divine pattern unfold in all its beauty. Occupy the place where God has set you until He calls you to something else. These are the golden secrets to a life of blessedness and usefulness.

Prayer

O Lord, may Your all-powerful grace perfect us as You have commanded, through Jesus Christ. Amen.
