God's Partnership With Man
Therefore, go! I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring My people the Israelites out of Egypt.” But Moses asked God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” “I will surely be with you,” God said, “and this will be the sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, all of you will worship God on this mountain.” Then Moses asked God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His name?’ What should I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” — Exod 3:10-14 BSB
What we need most today is to realize God’s partnership in our lives. Many of us might agree with this in theory but dismiss it as too abstract to be practical. However, when the Apostle said that “our fellowship (partnership) is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ,” he meant that we should live in the fullness of this reality. Our great Partner says, “I am…”—fill in the blank with whatever you need, and He will meet that need according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus. Let us tear out the order forms from God’s service register, fill them out, and submit them. Not one will be denied. If we ask for something based on our limited understanding, He will correct it and give us what we truly need. The more we ask of God, the more delighted He is to do abundantly more than we ask or think.
Jesus used the burning bush incident to prove the reality of life after death to the Sadducees. He reminded them that God identified Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, using the present tense—“I AM”—to show that He is the God of the living, not the dead. All live unto Him.
This is a comforting thought—that our loved ones who have passed are living in the same divine presence as we are. Though they see face to face while we see through a mirror dimly, we are all part of the same fellowship with the ever-present God. They drink from the same stream as we do, only higher up and closer to the source. “One family we dwell in Him.”
Prayer
Accomplish Your perfect work in our souls, O Father. Though we are still bound by earthly chains, exposed to the world’s storms, and wrestling with its troubles, we are not dismayed. We are more than earth and dust; we are connected to You, O Spirit of the Lord, and we can experience Your heavenly influence. Fill us with faith, love, and hope. Amen.
