The March Of God's Progress
Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power. — 1 Cor 15:24 BSB
Where is God moving? When we speak of the eternal progress of the Almighty, we must remember that we are using human language, for God dwells in the eternal present. He is Jehovah—“I am.”
God’s purpose is to exalt Christ as King. Christ must reign, and the Father’s power is working even now to bring everything under His rule. He has given Christ the nations as His inheritance, and the ends of the earth as His possession. Though we do not yet see all things under Christ’s feet, God is steadily advancing His eternal plan. The rise and fall of nations, the upheaval of governments, the shifting tides of elections, and the clamoring of political voices—all of this is part of God’s grand design. Every revolution and every news headline, no matter how insignificant it may seem, contributes to the final scene when the Son of Man will come to the Ancient of Days, and dominion and glory will be given to Him, and all peoples will serve Him.
It is vital for us to understand God’s movements, especially in this tumultuous age, so we can find peace in the midst of chaos. When we grasp God’s plan to unite all things in Christ, we can look calmly at a world in turmoil. While the world sees only confusion, those who love God can discern His hand at work. Even if the heavens depart and the mountains are removed, His kindness and covenant of peace will remain.
Prayer
Hasten the coming of Your Kingdom, O Lord, and the fulfillment of Your purpose. Keep us watchful and alert, that we may recognize the movement of Your hand and detect Your will, even in the smallest events of our lives. Amen.
