The Keys Of The Kingdom
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. — Matt 16:19 BSB
Although these words were spoken specifically to the Apostle Peter, there is a profound way in which every true disciple of Christ can exercise the power of unlocking or locking the doors of Faith, Hope, and Love for another soul. Perhaps you know someone weighed down by a heavy burden, oppressed by fear, or struggling with a recurring sin. You may offer comfort, practical help, or simply words of encouragement, and by doing so, you unlock the dark cell they’ve been trapped in. Your compassionate support becomes the key that sets them free. Isn’t this a true use of the power of the keys to the Kingdom?
Or perhaps you meet someone falsely accused or suspected of wrongdoing. You listen carefully, work to bring out the truth, and help clear their name. Or you may encounter a young person entangled in trouble, uncertain how to escape. Through your wisdom and counsel, you unlock the prison door and offer them the freedom they need.
Look for these opportunities to serve others. A life that abides in constant fellowship with Christ has an extraordinary power to set others free from their chains. Above all, point them to the ultimate Deliverer, Christ our Lord.
Prayer
He breaks the power of canceled sin, He sets the prisoner free; His blood can make the foulest clean, His blood availed for me. Amen.
