Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.” — Heb 13:5 BSB

The phrase “such things as ye have” suggests that within us is an undeveloped power, just waiting to be called upon, and it will be enough. I may be speaking to people who wish they had more money, more intelligence, or more influence. They dream of the lives they would live and the deeds they would do if only their circumstances were better. But God says, "No!" Everything you need is already within your reach—use it, and be content with what you have. Many of us have never fully explored the potential that lies within our own souls.

"Such things as ye have"—Moses had only a rod, but with God, that rod parted the Red Sea. David had only five small stones, but with God, they were enough to defeat Goliath. The widow had only a small jar of oil, but with God, it paid all her debts. A poor woman had just a handful of meal left, but with God, it sustained her, her son, and the prophet Elijah until the rains came. A boy had only five loaves and two fish, but with Jesus, they fed five thousand men, plus women and children. Estimate what you have, then factor in God! He will never leave you, nor forsake those who trust in Him.

So, be content! The greatest deeds that have blessed the world have rarely been done by the rich. Jesus Himself had none of this world’s goods, and the apostles had neither silver nor gold. William Carey was a poor cobbler, John Bunyan was a tinker, and John Wesley left only two silver spoons. What matters most is not wealth, but love and faith in God. Do not hoard—give freely! Be strong and content, and with courage say: "The Lord is my Helper; I will not fear"—whether in life or death, in sorrow or joy.

Prayer

The soul that has fled to Jesus for refuge will never be abandoned to its foes. Even if all of hell tries to seize it, He will never, no never, forsake! Amen.
