Duty of Retrospection

Thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldst keep his commandments. — Deut 8:2

Thus far the Lord has led me on,
And made his truth and mercy known;
And while I tread this desert land,
New mercies shall new songs demand.
