Sanctification by the Spirit

Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus. — 1 Pet 1:2

Can aught beneath a power divine
The stubborn will subdue?
’Tis thine, eternal Spirit, thine,
To form our hearts anew,
’Tis thine the passions to recall,
And upwards bid them rise;
And make the scales of error fall
From reason’s darkened eyes.
