Benefits of Affliction -- Tries Our Sincerity

He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. — Job 23:10

Though sorrows rise, and dangers roll
In waves of darkness o’er my soul;
Though friends are false, and love decays,
And few and evil are my days—
Yet even in nature’s utmost ill,
I love thee, Lord! I love thee still.
