Does Christ welcome us when we come to Him, despite all our past sins? Does He ever scold us for trying other solutions first? Is there anyone else on earth like Him? Is He not the best of the good, the fairest of the fair? Oh, then let’s praise Him! People of faith, lift Him up with music and song!

Let the symbols of pride and arrogance be trampled underfoot, but let the cross of Jesus—though the world mocks it—be lifted high. Oh, for a throne of ivory for our King! Let Him be exalted forever, and let my soul sit at His feet, kiss them, and wash them with my tears.

What slowpokes we can be! You may rush through the world’s business like an express train, but when it comes to spiritual matters, you travel at a snail’s pace. Yes, you may attend to the world quickly, while my Lord and Master must wait for your convenience,

as Felix long ago said. But it shouldn’t be this way. As soon as you know what your Lord wants you to do, every moment of unnecessary delay is a sin.
