Mountains Turned to Plains

What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain. Then he will bring forth the capstone accompanied by shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’ — Zech 4:7 BSB

Right now, we might be facing a huge challenge, a difficult situation, or a pressing need, and common sense says there’s no way around it, over it, or through it. But if faith steps in, that mountain disappears and becomes a flat plain. But first, faith must listen to the word of the Lord—"Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit," says the Lord of hosts. This is the core truth for dealing with the impossible challenges of life.

I see that I can’t do anything, and trusting in human strength is pointless. "Not by might." I realize that no visible means can be relied upon because the real power is in the unseen Spirit. God alone must work, and men and human efforts don’t count for much. If the Almighty God decides to handle the needs of His people, then even great mountains are nothing. He can move worlds as easily as a child tosses a ball or kicks it with their foot. This is the power He can give to me. If the Lord tells me to move a mountain, I can do it in His name. No matter how big the obstacle, even before my weakness, it will become a plain, for the Lord has said it. What can I fear with God on my side?
