Today’s Quote

There is no cordial of comfort, like that which is poured from the bottle of Scripture.

— Charles Spurgeon

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

The world’s hatred toward the people of Christ is fierce. People will overlook a thousand faults in others, but they will blow up even the smallest mistake in a follower of Jesus. Instead of lamenting this, let’s use it to our advantage. Since so many are watching for us to stumble, let this be an extra

motivation to live carefully before God. If we live carelessly, the world will notice it immediately and will shout triumphantly, "Look at how these Christians behave!" The cross of Christ is already offensive to the world; let’s make sure we don’t add any offense of our own, as that can do great harm to the cause of Christ and bring dishonor to His name.

There is no power in this world today that is more vital or influential than the power of Christ. I’m not even talking about heavenly or spiritual matters right now, but just temporal and moral influences—Christ is leading the way. Voltaire once said

that Christ lived in the twilight of His day, but Christ is moving from strength to strength. The infidel was right when he said it was twilight, but it was the twilight of the morning, and the full noon is coming.
