From the very first moment that good clashed with evil, it's always been true in our spiritual experiences—Satan tries to hinder us. When we work in the fields, he tries to break the plow. When we build walls, he tries to tear them down. Whether we serve God in suffering or conflict, Satan is always

trying to interfere. He even tries to stop us when we first come to Jesus. The struggles we faced with Satan when we first looked at the cross were fierce. Now that we are saved, he still tries to disrupt our growth in personal character. "So if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall."

The freed slave might forget the day when his chains were shattered. The pardoned criminal might not recall the moment the executioner’s axe was stopped. And the sailor, long lost at sea, might not remember the second when a hand pulled him from the waves.

But oh, the hour of forgiven sin! The moment of perfect pardon! My soul will never forget that while I have life and breath.
