Spurgeon’s Daily Help
Prayer shouldn’t be something we do occasionally; it should be our daily work, our habit, and our calling. Just as artists dedicate themselves to their craft, and poets immerse themselves in their pursuits, we must devote ourselves to prayer. We should be so immersed in prayer that it becomes our natural
state, praying without ceasing. Lord, teach us to pray so that we may be more effective in our supplications.
Our common problem is that we easily get distracted. Our thoughts wander in all directions, and we make little progress toward our goals. Like quicksilver, our minds won’t stay focused but scatter here and there. This is a serious problem! It harms us and, even worse, it dishonors God.

Observe how a baby trusts its mother; we must trust in Jesus in the same way. Notice how a spider drops from the ceiling and rises again on an invisible thread—so must we hold onto what Christ has done and rise to Heaven by it. Just as a sailor relies
on his compass, even though he doesn’t fully understand it, and a balloonist depends on gas he cannot see, we must trust in Jesus, whom we have not seen, but love.

Spurgeon’s Quote
True prayer is neither a mere mental exercise nor a vocal performance. It is far deeper than that—it is spiritual commerce with the Creator of Heaven and earth.
