Today’s Quote

Christian! Consider that the trials and troubles, the calamities and miseries, the crosses and losses that you meet with in this world, are all the Hell that ever you shall have!

— Thomas Brooks

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

Oh, there’s nothing that will benefit you more, nothing that will help you succeed, nothing that will keep you moving toward Heaven with your head held high and your eyes shining with glory, like imitating Jesus Christ. When, by the power of the Holy Spirit, you’re able to walk in Jesus’ footsteps and

follow His ways, that’s when you’re most happy and most clearly recognized as a child of God. For your sake, my brothers and sisters, I say, be like Christ.

The deepest longing of my soul is to draw Him closer to me and myself closer to Him.

Strings are wonderful things when a master musician plays them—they seem to become one with the musician, as if his very soul were being poured into them and vibrating through them. Only when a heart filled with deep emotion plays through an instrument

can the music be pleasing to God. Mere musical sound alone doesn’t bring Him any pleasure; He is only pleased with the thoughts and feelings expressed through it. This is why David’s harp was acceptable to God, but it would silence many an organ today.

Spurgeon’s Quote

Losses and crosses are heavy to bear. But when our hearts are right with God, it is astonishing how easy the yoke becomes.
