The closer we are to Christ, the more fruitful and powerful our lives become.

Spurgeon’s Daily Help
The branch is not only always close to the stem but is also always receiving life and fruitfulness from it. All true believers abide in Christ in some sense, but there’s a deeper level of abiding that we must experience before we gain unlimited power in prayer. "Ask whatever you wish" is reserved for
those like Enoch, who walked with God, for those like John, who leaned on the Lord’s chest, for those whose union with Christ leads to constant communion.
If you want to be powerful in prayer, the Lord Himself must live in you, and you in Him.

You can’t grow in grace to any significant degree while you’re bound by the world. Deciding for Christ may lead to a difficult path, but it’s the path of safety; and though a life of separation from the world may cause you pain, it’s a happy life in the
end. No joy can compare to that of a person who earns the world’s enmity because of their love for the Savior. Jesus reveals Himself so graciously and gives such sweet refreshment that the soldier of the cross finds more peace in their daily struggles than others do in their worldly comfort.
